Learn About the 5:1 Ratio Principle of Positive Feedback to Parents

Piggybacking on the conversation with Paul from episode 131, I want to share about the 5:1 Ratio Principle of Positive Feedback to parents.

Although this principle will apply to any relationship you have (paras, colleagues, administration, home life), today's episode focuses on how to make it work with the parents of your students.

Why does this ratio matter so much? Positive feedback grabs people's attention and motivates them to continue doing well.Ā
Having a working relationship with the parents of your students that is positive in nature will make your job so much easier.

Okayā€¦so what does this ratio mean? Well, it suggests that for every negative comment or criticism you give, you should provide five positive comments or pieces of feedback before the negative one. This principle emphasizes the importance of focusing on the positive aspects of a person or situation before addressing any shortcomings. And let me tell you, it works wonders.

Listen in to learn about this principle.
