Ep #8: How to Easily Administer a Survey Level Assessment
What exactly is a Survey Level Assessment? A Survey Level Assessment is the process by which an examiner (also known as you) determines a student’s present level of performance. They are a set of informal tests or probes used to pinpoint the exact skills your student has (or doesn’t have) in order to write the Present Levels of Academic Achievement and to determine the appropriate level to monitor student progress.
The thing with a Survey Level Assessment is that it is informal. There is no right way or wrong way to assess what a child knows and doesn't know. In this episode, I share with you the 4 steps to administering a survey level assessment including
1. How to decide on a starting point
2. Gathering the materials you will need
3. Giving the probes & analyzing the data
4. Using the data to write the IEP
Within the episode, I mention a product I created to have all the probes and forms to quickly complete a Survey Level Assessment. You can find that product HERE
